Have you ever noticed how some situations in your life seem to repeat themselves again and again?
It’s as if certain circumstances happen in sequence, repeating the same life experiences in cyclical patterns.
Maybe you can’t get yourself out of debt no matter how much more money you are making compared to before, or perhaps you continue to form relationships with the same type of people, even though you have cut people off time and time again.
Consequently, you live in perpetual periods of frustration and havoc.
What if I tell you that you have the power to change your circumstance and stop those repetitive evil patterns?
Yes, you read this right!
You are creating your circumstance by attracting your situation, good and bad. This phenomenon is widely known as the Law of Attraction. In the Bible this is known as reaping what you sow, or “the Law of Sowing and Reaping”.
Personally, I came to realize this phenomenon on my own through a set of experiences that I had. Upon seeking God for spiritual guidance, I received several dreams and was led to many biblical as well as secular teachings on the subject.
What the Bible says about Sowing and Reaping:
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” Galatians 6:7
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” 2 Corinthians 9:6
“A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.” Proverbs 11:18
It all happens in the mind
Our minds are made up of two main components, the Conscious and Subconscious.
The conscious mind consists of everything inside of our awareness. This is the aspect of our mental processing by which we can think and speak in a rational way.
The conscious mind includes the sensations, perceptions, memories, feelings, and fantasies that happen inside of our awareness while we are awake.
According to cognitive neuroscientists, approximately 5 percent of cognitive activity happens in the conscious mind. Therefore, the remaining 95 percent of brain activity pertaining to most of our decisions, actions, emotions, and behavior, happens beyond our conscious awareness in a part of our brain labeled as the subconscious mind.
Sigmund Freud believed that the conscious mind could hide things that it wants from awareness by repressing memories into the subconscious.
Freud also believed that the subconscious mind could have an influence on our behavior and that subconscious thought patterns make themselves available to the conscious mind in disguised form.
Subsequently, the subconscious mind continually attracts unfavorable or favorable circumstances by influencing the conscious mind towards particular behaviors and decision-making processes.
This is why, despite consciously not wanting a circumstance to happen, situations, things, and people seem to appear in our lives again and again.
The conscious mind only functions in a waking stage, whereas the subconscious never sleeps
This means that the subconscious mind is constantly absorbing information, as it is continually bombarded with messages from all over via the things we see, hear, and feel in our surroundings.
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber in their beds, he may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride, to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword. Job 33:15-18
According to Freud, the contents of the subconscious mind might spill into conscious awareness in the form of dreams. He believed that by analyzing the content of dreams, people could discover the unconscious influences on their conscious actions.
This envisioning process is essential for creating positive changes in our waking life. We continually replay certain messages in our subconscious minds in the form of night visions. Nevertheless, we can train our minds to play the messages that we want for the future instead of continually reliving the memories of the past.
The Secret is Inside You
“ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” Matthew 6:33
And later he said,
“The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst” Luke 17:20-21
You hold the tools for your own freedom. You just need to learn how to use them. You can access anything in the realm of the Heavenly Kingdom by going within yourself to seek it, and you will see it manifest in this physical realm the way you envisioned it.
The first thing that needs to happen in order to change a frustrating cycle in life is the reprogramming of the mind. The way we do this is by following a few simple steps.
In my book, The Treasure In You: What the Bible Says about the Law of Attraction, I tell the story of my journey towards these discoveries as well as the connections I made between the Law of Attraction theories by teachers such as Joe Vitale and the Bible.
